Ok... What's wrong with Penguins? Also, what is wrong with the Happy Feet movie? I haven't seen it, but I'm sure that it's just a cute movie with dancing penguins. It's a cartoon, for crying out loud, and since when has a cartoon been bad for kids!

Melissa, you have crystalized my sarcastic thoughts EXACTLY! People are so insane! It's just a cartoon!

Amen, Melissa

That is the most stupidest thing ever.

Honestly, like a child is going to step back and think about GW when a cute penguin is tap dancing. :(

I saw Happy Feet (to se a huge ootp trailer, of course) last Friday and I thought that the message of over fishing and how we are hurting the environment was very well done and I really enjoyed it (gave me shivers in fact). The movie had an over all good message of accepting people who are different and standing up for yourself and what you believe in...exc. Seeing all those stuck up pricks tear it apart made my skin crawl. I feel dirty just watching it. I mean god forbid someone tries to make a point through dancing Penguins!

OMFG!!!!!i wanted to freaken throw something at them,i'm telling you i nearly broke my mouse i was ctuching it so titely...freaken morons hate people like that.....ahhhhh

The Global warming stuff was for the parents that took their kids to see it. The kids probably didn't even notice. UGH.. politics.

Man, Glenn Beck is my hero! This guy just gets it! ::insert Neville's "amazing!":: OF COURSE Dancing Penguins = The end of civilization as we know it! Shame on us for not seeing the movie for what it truly is!

hehe, well, Happy Feet is no An Inconvenient Truth but what's the big deal if there was one for kids? It's ridiculous to shield children from what's happening in the world. Global Warming effects all of us, not just the enlightened.

This week I've seen Jesus Camp, An Inconvenient Truth, and Who Killed the Electric Car? and, needless to say, I'm worried.

By the by, hilarious rant.

If I am a kid, I think I have get my parents to go to the zoo with me, and figure out some way to release the poor little penguins!

These people are going crazy. I thought it was just a fluffy penguin film.

All that need was some Ann Coulter to make it even more credible.

2 days later and i'm still angry over that.....that guy really pissed me off....

I LOVE YOU MELISSA!!

i doubt a seven year old going to see Happy Feet would make the connection between penguins being hungry and consumerism and Bush.

and even if they did, really, what's wrong with that? they should be aware that their actions do cause consequences in other parts of the world.

oh and that thing about "global warming not being one of the things kids have to worry about"? Hah! That's complete crap. What about kids who live in places like Australia that are seriously affected by the hole in the ozone layer and have had to make serious lifestyle changes in anticipation of cancer? What about the rest of the world? We've created a world in which things need to be fixed, and now, and it's going to be the future generation that the majority of that burden lies on.

I almost fell over because I was rolloing my eyes so much watching those clips. If any of them just bothered to type the words 'over fishing' into google, they would have found thousands of peices of research from the UN, the US & most other Countries showing clear evidence of the problem!

Wow. I can't believe some people. They are getting mad over something so...gah...grrr...they're just making way to big a deal out of it. It's a movie. So what if there are politcial messages in it? Since when is it a crime to tell kids the truth about such things. Is it really that horrible if a kid is inspired to help th enviornment?

And the fact that they thought the singing and dancing was over the top seriously bugged me. That is the point! It is about singing and dancing it's a musical of sorts. Really it's like going to a musical saying that there's too much singing.

These people must have gone insane back when FernGully came out.

Gosh, even I (an adult) didn't think about GW while watching the cute little penguins tap dance! It was just a cartoon to me, and I went to see the Harry Potter trailer anyway.

I don't think it's the Global Warming that's such a problem with the film (in fact I don't think it even deals with that? Are you refering to the fishing?), but having a very clear (and narrow-minded) premise about defying religion is perhaps something that should have at least been slightly evident through the movie's promotion. Some parents might not appreciate being "tricked" into taking their children to something like that. At least with something like Jesus Camp you KNOW what you're getting and can therefore make the decision to avoid it if that's not your cup of tea.

I thought I was the only one who was seeing penguins everywhere and thinking "what is up with the flippers, folks?"

I wonder what the next wave of cartoons will be... Koalas?

Questauthor

-_-

I usually respect Glenn Beck, but wow.

That's the stupidest thing that the media has hyped about in a while. Big babies.

Oh.My.Gosh. God forbid animated movie makers present a real issue in a manner that might inspire viewers of all ages to think about the world in which we live. I personally loved the message of embracing diversity, but maybe I saw a different movie?

I saw it with my 11-year old and I was more offended by the preachy Scottish-sounding overlord penguin than the plastic ring around the other penguin's neck.

And it's rated PG. So, basically they're telling use they took their toddlers to a PG-rated movie? And it's the movie makers' fault their kids were exposed to this "propaganda"?

But of course. Just like that horrible Rotter or whatever his name is. I bet if you play the film backwards, the penguins spell out "support gay marriage".

Oh my god. One of those girls live in my town. Its scary to see the trailer, but when they're that close to home, its even scarier.

I read this before, but I hadn't said anything because I still hadn't seen the movie. I finally saw it today in IMAX and it was such a good movie. Honestly, this whole news station freaking out over it thing is stupid. A lot of movies made for younger people have always had bigger messages included in them, this one is just a little bit more obvious. But the little kids aren't noticing the real point of that other than as the action that moves the movie along and makes the happy ending. Everyone just needs to relax and watch some cute tap dancing penguins. That guy might enjoy life a bit more if he had some happiness in his feet.

*taps away*

Yes, God forbid we teach children today morals and show them that there ARE problems in the world. It's as if an eight year-old would pick up on anything from that movie anyway, besides, perhaps, a love for tap-dancing penguins.

Oh...My....God.....

I laughed my ass off when I got to the end of Happy Feet, and realized that the whole thing was a political movie.

I just about loved WB after that. I just could not get over that. It was brilliant. Teach kids that if we continue to ruin the environment, the tap dancing penguins will DIEEEEEE and have soda rings around their necks for them to choke on!

But how some people freaked out over a cartoon MOVIE is beyond me. GAH. People.

Love, Amanda
