I completely agree. 'Ear 'ear.
there's so much i want to say but i don't know how to say it. the syndrome of the painful empty takes over.
So many and there is totally so much more to come!!!
I am so happy some other human bean has finished it
Yes. So much more to come? I certainly hope so. But it IS the end. And it never seemed REAL until now, 24 hours after I've finished the book.
Im waiting for your TLC report...AND the entire Potter experience here...
ps-Saw you on Nightlife!
JK Rowling is amazing. Thank you for such a wonderful book!
I just finished about 10 minutes ago, now I'm off to see my nephew. Hope to see your Pottercast this afternoon.
I loved it! The emptiness hasn't hit yet, mostly I've just happy and grateful it ended as wonderfully as it did. :)
I can't wait to read how you describe all this to the muggles in your book, Melissa!
It doesn't seem real. I think I am in denial. But yes, I am finished too and can't wait for the reading groups to start.

Wow.

I could not put it any better way, glorious and gratifying ways indeed. Thanks for that blog entry, it helped to bare reading the final 300 pages :)
I want to talk to you about it all SO MUCH. 'Cause it was awesome. And since I began this fandom journey with you, I want to end it with you.
Until we start all over again, that is. :)
So. . . shoot me an e-mail or something. When you get the chance.
I can't believe it is already over.
It seemed like it went by so fast. Too fast.
The whole book and this whole experience
has been so bittersweet. And was it just me
or did you not "really" really cry until
two hours after you finished with the book?
Like Alli, I can't wait to see how you
describe this experience in your book.
It will be great!
Talk to you later, Melissa!
Well said Melissa!! Because of the way it finished, maybe slightly ignoring the epilogue (in fact I've pulled a page our of my notebook, written THE END on it and stuck it in after The Flaw In the Plan chapter! I recommend this to anyone who want to pretend it never happened, that we are still living in Harry's time and can fanfic about what happens next!), our fandom can live on and we can continue to celebrate these amazing books... just because we know the whole story doesn't mean it's over.
Also wanted to point out something Dumbledore said: (minor spoilers, hope it's okay)
"Of course it is happening inside your head, Harry, but why on earth should that mean that it is not real?"
And that, in my opinion, summed up our relationship with these books, and was such a virtual group hug to all the big fans of the series.
Thank you Melissa!! Can't wait to hear your thoughts on DH! I was at Waterstones, which was AMAZING, what a great group of people! Potter fans are truly the nicest people in the world, I ended up spending 13 hours with people I'd never met before from all over the world, just talking HP non stop!! That's what HP has done to people - who could dare say these books aren't a positive influence on the world??
Btw I'm probably just imagining it... but PotterWatch? Sounds an awful lot like PotterCast doesn't it? A little nod to you guys perhaps? I'd like to think so!
i agree. i cried a lot. i cried when dobby died and when harry said he had to die and when fred died and when lupin and tonks died. so much sadness had gone through me in parts of this book as well as happiness, like in the epilogue that was my second favorite part of the book, first being snapes memories. but now im totally depressed because there wont be another book. i reallyyyyy want to know what happends to lily and albus and james and i hope that jo writes some more or that she posts some stuff about them on her website
Sorry for spamming your blog, saw your post on PotterCast and wanted to make sure you knew when I say I ignored the epilogue it's not because I didn't like it, it's because I don't want to think of the events of the books in past tense - that makes it too final, and I know when re-reading the books I don't want to think of a future for these guys beyond surviving Deathly Hallows, which we now know they will. It's great that now, when thinking about their futures, reading fanfiction and speculating, we know have the happy ending guaranteed, because of the epilogue, but I want to keep the in-between as current. It's hard to explain.. but I want the story of Harry Potter to end at the sentence "I've had enough trouble for a lifetime", then continue on from there in my mind - knowing that they will eventually have their kids and cars and marriages I always wished for them, but not have that era of their lives be the present time in my mind for them. I'm not ready to let go of the books yet, so I'm pretending it didn't end so definitively, I guess. It's great to even have the possibility to do so.
Just thought I'd add in that point of view!
